Author Thanks

Brandon Presser

As always, a big thank you to the Bambridges for the best home away from home on this (lonely) planet. In the islands, a very special thanks goes out to Matt Bolton and Crystal. A big thank you also goes out to China Williams for successfully (re)launching our Thailand content, to Celeste and Austin for their diligence, to Ilaria for always striving to keep things fresh for our readers, and to Joanne and Sasha Fachay for always putting a smile on my face even when the deadlines loomed large.

Celeste Brash

Huge thanks to my husband Josh and my kids who I missed so much on this extra-long trip. In Phuket thanks to Celine Masson, Lauren Ladky, Jade in Surin and Aleksander Bochenek; fellow Lonely Planet authors Adam Skolnick, Lisa Dunford and Greg Bloom for expert support; to Bodhi Garrett, master of the best places, and to Starlight on Phayam and Dick on Sukorn. And Brandon and Ilaria for keeping this crazy book together.

Austin Bush

Thanks to talented Lonely Planeters Ilaria Walker, David Connolly and Bruce Evans; fellow writers Celeste Brash and Brandon Presser; and the kind folks on the ground in Bangkok including Joe Cummings, Greg Glachant, Craig Harrington, Richard Hermes, Natchaphat Itthi-chaiwarakom, Maher Satter, David Thompson, Pailin Wedel and Patrick Winn.

This Book

This 8th edition of Thailand’s Islands & Beaches was coordinated by Brandon Presser, who wrote the Plan Your Trip (with the exception of Eat & Drink Like a Local) and Understand chapters (with the exception of Food & Drink) as well as the Survival guide. Brandon also researched and wrote the Ko Samui & the Lower Gulf chapter. Brandon was assisted by an extraordinary pair of Thailand aficionados: Celeste Brash (Phuket & the Northern Andaman Coast, Ko Phi-Phi & the Southern Andaman Coast) and Austin Bush (Bangkok, Eat & Drink Like a Local, Food & Drink). The Health chapter is based on that supplied by Trish Batchelor and the Environment chapter is based on that supplied by David Lukas. Maher Sattar came through with the goods at the last moment and wrote the Cambodia’s South Coast content for the Ko Chang & Eastern Seaboard chapter.
