WAGE: $61,000 (BONUS TO $114,000) YEAR

• There are more than 40,000 employment websites worldwide.

• There are two kinds of job recruiters/headhunters: internal recruiters (who work within an organization) and third-party recruiters (who work for many clients at a time).

• A recruiter’s commission can be from 10 to 35 percent of the applicant’s first-year salary.

WHAT I LEARNED: The interview goes both ways.

The interview process should be equally focused on the interviewee asking him- or herself, “Why do I want to work for this company?” as it is on the employer asking, “Why should I hire this person?”

The interview is an opportunity to discover what working for the company would be like and if it’s something the applicant would want to do. The employer wants to find the right employee as much as the candidate wants to find the right job.
