This roof garden is located atop a prewar apartment block in Manhattan, directly above a full-floor loft. The owners wanted a large terrace to accommodate several uses, including an area for children, another for dining and cooking, and a more private space adjacent to a home office and guest room.

A deck is the ideal space to install an outdoor sauna. The height of the terrace furnishes the space with privacy and quiet.

The kitchen, lounge, and dining space is best sited under an arbor to shelter it from rain or too much sun.
