Greenwich Roof Garden
Architect: Graftworks Architecture + Design

This private roof garden in Manhattan was built with lumber recycled from the water tank that had been on the roof. The wooden slats provide almost complete control of shapes and volumes, and this creates the illusion of waves or curves of the sun loungers. The edge of the roof is decorated with plants and is also a protective barrier.

The sun loungers were built on concrete and plaster platforms. Small storage areas were also built with wooden slats.

The wooden slats are raised at the edges of the roof in a curve to form waves that are reminiscent of the sea. The greenery emerges between the waves to add a touch of color.
